   I’ve had a lifetime of pleasure and beautiful table settings with Mikasa French Countryside and passed on the “tradition” to my son and daughter-in-law for Christmas. Due to the simplicity and superb quality they will have a lifetime of use and enjoyment with this set. The greatest aspect is the adaptability … tastes change over time but there’s no need to replace your dinnerware … it’s a wonderful staple that I highly recommend.

   This dinnerware set is gorgeous! I am very pleased with this purchase, especially since it isn’t a ‘fad’ set of dishes, I can use them for years to come without them looking dated. They are classy and fresh.

   I bought this 45 piece Mikasa set a little over 1 year ago. Now I don’t do a lot of entertaining, but I wanted dinnerware with a quality appearance. And I got it. What I didn’t know at the time, was how just well made these dishes were. If you have cats in your house, then you know what mischief they can get into. Two weeks ago, at around 4 in the morning, I went from sound asleep to immediately sitting straight up in bed. Why? There was a very loud crash coming from the area of my kitchen. Upon dragging myself out of bed and finding my way to the kitchen, I determined that the guilty culprit had disappeared, and was hiding. But his handiwork was left behind on the floor. He’d gotten up on the counter and somehow knocked onto the floor one of my dinner plates. To my amazement, it was all in one piece. There was not even a chip out of it.

   So while thoroughly displeased with my cat, I was very pleased with my Mikasa dinnerware.Mikasa French Countryside 45-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 8

   Do not buy these dishes they absorb water and discolor instantly. They are not sealed on the bottoms of the bowels will absorb water and change color to brownish tan.

   I purchased this last year to add to my current Mikasa that I highly recommend Mikasa Italian Countryside 45-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 8. We were having a large family gathering at our home over an extended period and I did not want to be constantly loading and unloading the dishwasher. This was the solution to that problem. I have used my original Mikasa Italian Dinnerware set daily for last 3 years and LOVE it! No problems with color. No problems with chipping. However, unless you have a TALL tub dishwasher it would be difficult to load this set without incidence. That problem was encountered with a co-worker’s daughter who uses this dinnerware set. That said, it has been “hands down”my favorite daily dinnerware.

   I bought these last minute, mostly because of the reviews and was afraid I might not like them, but I ended up liking them very much. This is a casual but versatile set. The dishes were packed well, a box within another box, within another box, plenty of cardboard between each dish. I expected to find a few flaws or chips or bumps in the glaze, but I found none. Colour is not as white as the picture shows, more of a stock card manilla cream colour – and they feel good to touch, smooth,glossy,and light weight for stoneware. I am glad I made the purchase, they are nice to have. The size of the bowls are large, and work for pasta, salads, cereal, soup, even vegetable servings. The dinner plates are 11 1/4″ in diameter, fairly normal sized dinner plate, had no issue fitting in my cupboard.

   I wanted this set because the plates are advertised as a reasonable 10 inch size, but upon receiving them they are actually a much larger and unwieldy 11 inches. It’s hard to give yourself healthy-sized portions of food when using such a large plate.

   The “cereal bowls” are advertised as 6″, but they are 7″. They look more like serving bowls to me – they must hold at least a quart. Almost big enough to feed a Newfoundland his breakfast in. If you look at any box of cereal a serving size is about 1 cup. This amount looks pitiful in such a large bowl. A study featured in the September 2007 issue of American Journal of Preventive Medicine found that when nutrition experts were given large bowls, they ate 31 percent more food without even being aware of it.

   I was looking specifically for smaller-sized dinnerware. I am very disappointed that the actual sizes are not accurately listed on Amazon’s website.

   I have been looking for a nice set of dinnerware for some time. I had seen this set before and liked it a lot. I love the off white because it works for any decor and any season, just change the tablecloth and accesories. The design is very delicate and elegant.
   I found this at a great price in Amazon and ordered 2 sets. The shipping was FREE and they were delivered really fast and in perfect condition.

    Purchased this set over 4 years ago and have used daily without quality control, shipping, chipping, absorbing, or discoloring problems. In fact, my husband loads up the dishes in the evening in our dishwasher willy-nilly. Last year I purchased Mikasa Italian Countryside 16-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4 to add to my set as we were hosting a family stay (including children) for an extended period of time and I didn’t want to be constantly loading/unloading the dishwasher. I still receive compliments on the dinnerware. One of the features I really like in this dinnerware is the versatility when setting the table. You can use a wide variety of tablecloths, placemats, floral pieces etc and pull it off without a problem. Although creamy white the edge of the pieces have enough detail to be interesting without being fussy. I have brought a number of complementary pieces without problems.
