  1. Frustratingly, the advertiser does not state the size of the tea pot therefore one has to guess at it’s size which has put me off. It would also be helpful to know what stamp it holds. Appears to be a good deal but 2 strikes and they are out for me!

  2. Portmeirion introduces and discontinues items within a line, and has done so since they introduced Botanic Garden in 1972. Even the plates, which only have six flowers at any given time have had numerous flowers offered over the years. They have downsized the tureen. Fortunately, many discontinued items can still be found if one searches hard enough.

This is a new “traditional” style tea cup in a 7oz. they are trying to come up with something more delicate than the traditional heavy stoneware. It replaces the previous 7oz romantic-traditional shape and the original drum shape tea cups. (the original tea pot was drum shape too.) They have discontinued the coffee cup that was 9oz; “Breakfast cup”, 12oz (same saucer size as the gravy boat); and Latte cup, 20oz. (my daughter likes it for cereal/soup.)

I’m giving this a three only because I’m not sure if I’m going to keep them or send them back and search for the older romantic shaped, heavier stoneware (and more expensive) tea cups.

  3. Each cup has different flowers, all lovely. Nice size for a good cup of tea. I love the whole set.

  4. Portmeirion Botanic Garden Tea Cup and Saucer, Set of 6
They are considerably smaller than the set i purchased in England … i think maybe 6 ozs rather than 12 ozs. And obviously the saucers are smaller too.

I kept the product but was greatly disappointed. The cup size should be printed, and in fact they cost more than the larger ones. The price was high in general, as i found them cheaper in a store near home.

Internet shopping learning curve for me indeed.

  5. I bought two of these from Amazon and give them to my close friends as presents.
These cups are not huge and a bit pricey. But I was looking for a bit special present, it was the one. Cups are cute and precious. It may be a good idea to look at them at your local store before to make a decision.

  6. This tea set was received in broken condition, returned, and the replacement received broken as well. At that point Amazon declined to replace it again. Do not buy.

  7. This is a beautiful tea set. I ordered it for my granddaughter for Christmas and was thrilled when I opened the box (a lovely storage box in the same pattern as the china). However, the only packaging inside the box was some cardboard dividers to separate the pieces. The teapot lid was inverted over the creamer and in shipping, vibrated against each other, breaking the creamer and the lid. So…it had to be returned and at the time there were no replacements available. A few sheets of tissue paper stuffed around the pieces to cushion them during shipment could avoid future mishaps.

  8. I LOVE this tea set, but buyer beware: it is not packaged correctly and items will be broken. One of my tea cups was PULVERIZED and Amazon won’t replace just the cup. I got $10 back but to buy a replacement cup and saucer it will cost me MORE than $10. This is a very poor policy.

  9. I don’t understand how people cannot give this 5 stars! The box it arrives in is beautiful, in the same pattern as the tea set. The items have an intricate pattern, and the edges have a pretty detail. There is a pretty butterfly on the inside of each cup – I liked it so much, I almost thought about keeping it for myself!
