As with most things that win design “awards” practicality is often sacrificed. So be aware these bowls are indeed, very large and very shallow. If that’s what you want, great. But be prepared to act cautiously around this bowl if you don’t want to spill soup though everything else works just fine. Yes, they are simple, hansom, with an extremely subtle concentric circle pattern. Put the food in quickly or you’ll hypnotize yourself. Solid quality porcelain.

  1. These are the best bowls ever! Seriously! They’re so incredibly elegant–simply white with concentric white rings on the inside. Very shallow and perfect for everything from soup to pasta to curry to salad. I hardly even use my plates anymore–I just love these bowls so much that they seem to be perfect for every meal! The bowls are also very easy to care for, which is an added bonus (and important since I use them constantly!). The porcelain is very durable–never chips or cracks even with heavy use. And they go in the dishwasher too! If you buy these bowls and love them, you’ll also love the full dinnerware set–a modern classic for every home!

  2. I love these plates. From a distance, they look like simple, plain white plates, but up close, they have a subtle ring pattern which is slightly hypnotic and kind of makes you feel like you’re looking into the center of the universe (well, at least, it does me). I’m really glad I chose this pattern. These plates make me happy every time I look at them.

  3. I agree with the other user that utensils do tend to slide off the edges of the plates and bowls. I can get used to this. And, the mugs are a bit small for my taste in comparison to the oversized look of the plates and bowls. However, I don’t think these two imperfections–if you could even call them that–warrant this to be a four-star item. This set is high-quality, high design, and just fine for everyday use. I am overall very pleased with this set and will order any replacements if needed. FYI: this item was also solidly packed when shipped. No breakage here.

  4. I bought the dinner plates, salad plates, deep soup bowl (for soup and pasta) and the 5 inch bowls for desserts. Really love the look of the set overall but one unforeseen problem prevents me from giving this five stars.
The dinner plates are deeper than one would expect and consequently, forks laid to rest keep slipping down into the food. Over time one learns how to balance one’s fork very exactly but guests might find themselves fighting with their forks.
