christmas-fine-china Essential roadmap on Red porcelain

I spent a lot of time reviewing, researching and reading about different pots and pans sets, prices, etc.. before choosing these Kitchen Aid products. I bought the griddle in addition to this 10 piece set.I of course Love the color.. really wanted red this time around and these are a beautiful deep red.. I like the coating/annodized interior and will admit I coddle and baby these.. am determined to keep them nice and healthy for a long time. They clean like a breeze and heat up timely, not too fast or too slow. I really like the rubber grip handles and the stainless steel lids- my previous set had glass lids and I never really liked them much. I’m quite satisfied and feel I made a very good purchase, these have a nice solid weight to them, they clean up well and they’re attractive hanging from my pot rack. Although I’ve had them only about a month, I do use them 2-3 times a day- so they’ve been put through enough of a work out for me to feel confident in my review. Just remember to

  1. I absolutely love these pans. At first I was leary about the handles getting hot but they dont! Awesome set, cleans up easily.

  2. I have looked at reviews over reviews before I purchased this cookware set. I am happy with the purchase for $109. It is attractive and is truly non stick. However, from where I stand, it is not really designed for rough handling and very frequent, prolong cooking at very high temperatures. This will erode the nonstick coating inside and strip the outer color. For instance, I do not use it to fry chicken, I use a calphalon pot but will steam fish or vegetables with it. One must be mindful of different times of cookware for different functions. I opined, it is more suited for young professionals, students etc, not for very very regular use. I do not place it in the dishwahser, as it is easily washable. After a while, I have noticed little black buildup on the bottom and sides which is proving a little challenging to remove without damaging the color.

  3. This is a good product for the money, but the red enamel finish is starting to wear off. We have only had them for a month! I was hand-washing one and all the water turned red. The outside of the pots and pans now are a dull red and I’m worried they wont stay red for long. Good pro’s though-great even cooking, great for storage and the sizes are perfect for our family of four.

  4. I absolutely loved this cookware – the look of it and the way it cooked. No complaint. However very shorty after getting this set i put one in the dishwasher (have NEVER had pots and pans I couldn’t put in DW) and was appalled to find that the entire outside of the pan went from shiny red to washed out dull in that one washing. I took a white sponge cloth and wiped it and the cloth became totally red!!! I took pics and, gratefully, am getting a full refund. What a disappointment and a shame. It’s so nice other than that.

  5. Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1D1DYBLU8X8F3 Hi
I uploaded a video because when it comes to the terrible quality of this awful Kitchenaid Cookware, words alone do not tell the story! The red finish was ruined the first time I ran the pans through the dishwasher and only got worse over time. When I dry them by hand, red and black paint wipes right off on my dish towels! In addition, the pans are warped, the non-stick coating flakes off and, in fact, was never very “non-stick” to start with. Plus the pans are a weird size–skinny diameter, but deep, which makes them somewhat difficult to work with. They fit awkwardly on my burners.

I mistakenly thought Kitchenaid was a quality brand, but my eyes have really been opened! They’ve obviously used the solid reputation of their stand mixer as an opportunity to flood the market with a whole host of inferior products. I used to have a full set of red Kitchenaid spatulas and other hand tools, but have discarded most of them because of the bad quality. I am also unimpressed by their hand mixer–had to exchange it twice because the “chrome” trim (really just mylar tape) kept falling off.

Seriously–don’t waste your money on these awful pots & pans!

  6. I got this set as a gift three or four years ago. It still works fine, and I haven’t had issues with the non-stick coating flaking off, but the red coating has gotten really discolored from normal use — black in some places, faded in others. Also, I think the pots have warped a bit. The strainer inserts I have for the pots don’t really sit flush in the pot anymore. It’s disappointing, because I love my Kitchenaide stand mixer, and I really really loved this set’s color. My boyfriend has been trying to convince me for a while now that these are “garbage.” I suppose it’s time to cave in and replace them with a set that won’t look so ugly after a year.

  7. This is an upgrade from T-Fal that I have had before and this set is very good and I don’t have any complaints and they are easy to handle and wash so I would think anyone looking for something a little better to think about this

  8. I have worked in a kitchen collection store for almost 2 years now. I first bought this red 10 piece set because i needed something high quality. In the end after some discounts it cost like $95. Great price right?. So i want everyone to know the issues with any set like this one, doesn’t matter what company. ANY set with an enamel coating like this, will discolor, fade, and chip on the outside very quickly even on a glass top stove. The main issue with this set is that the kitchen company actually applies the non stick coating at the rim of each piece that slightly goes over the enamel coating. The nonstick cannot adhere to that so easily. Within a few weeks this set started peeling nonstick off everywhere. At the rims of the pots/pans that is. After 2 months, most of the enamel coating on the base was faded and eroded off. I have heard several other complaints with the same thing. I ended up returning the set, i wanted to give kitchen aid another try. They are high quality after all. I went with the 10pc non stick hard anodized set. I tell you what, the 10 pc hard anodized may not be a pretty red, but its sure as hell a lot better. Ive had it over 10months now and it still looks as if it was brand new. Nothing is peeling off, no discoloring anywhere, outside is so easy to cleaning.

Now, unless my companies district warehouse has a batch of bad kitchen red 10 pc enamel sets and we just got unlucky, or all together the red set is not worth the money, time, or worry. Either go with SS with clad bottoms, or something hard anodized non stick. Remember, DO NOT use metal utensils even if cookware says its safe too. DO NOT put the cookware in the dishwasher, ever, it will only ruin it over time. DO NOT put your cookware under water while its still hot, this will warp and weaken the metal, also causing your non stick coating to come off. Finally, i’d advise against using cooking spray on your non stick pans, a lot of cooking sprays have some chemical in it that can cause damage to your non stick coating.

  9. Very nice pan good quality, much better than the Walmart brand of Paula Deen. The Paula Deen at Walmart is cheaper made the handles are weaker because they are flat.this one and the set I bought at JC Penny have two ribs on the handle to make it stronger also these have rings to hang them if you want to,Walmart brand does not. This pan cooks evenly and fast my wife really loves this cookware she has the whole set now and is very happy with the way they cook and the way she can hang them up out of the way. They also look very nice hanging in the kitchen.I think anyone would be happy with this cookware, but I would not buy the Walmart brand of Paula Deen pay the extra few dollars and get the ones with the better and stronger handles. Thanks Amazon for good service and product.
