Opening the cold silver canister immediately engages the senses. With a dull pop, the tin lid is released from the beige-labeled can, and the spicy aroma of bergamot and china Tea cups with lids nutmeg fill the air. Inside, tightly wrapped leaves have been dried into little more than tiny, twisted black sticks. Only small flecks of orange and gold are left as a reminder that these brittle curling sticks were once a living, growing plant. Excitement surrounds a china mug as the loose tea is prepared. A delicate silver chain on the end of the tea infuser ball serves as an appropriate handle while filling the opened sphere. Crunching and crackling, the crisp leaves are packet into the open infuser for steeping.
