I originally bought the 4-place setting set and was so happy with it that I decided to buy a few extra pieces just in case of breakage as time passes. These cups and saucers are very lovely. They feel smooth and somewhat delicate, and yet substantial at the same time. Normally I drink coffee in large mugs, but these dishes would be good for when I want to use something pretty just for me, or to set out for a visitor who stops by, or to use when you want to teach your children and family about gracious dining.

Does Anyone Know the Name of The story That inspired this Piece of China?
When I was younger my grade teacher had a set of china which i believed look exactly like this Blue Willow china one: http://www.findamark.com/ARTCLimages/blue-willow-pattern.jpg . She told us a story about two lovers that i vaguely remember, but i know they turned into birds at the end, as you can see on the artwork. I was wondering if anyone knew the traditional story which inspired this particular china pattern which is very popular.

  1. My husband and I have been looking for a good set of Blue Willow for a long time, without success. It seems that there are many imitators out there . We were so pleased, therefore, to have our search end when we received this dinnerware–it is beautiful and well made ! The color is vibrant and uniform, and the quality is excellent. In addition, it was carefully packaged and arrived promptly. What more can be said? This is one purchase we will never regret.

  2. I purchased this set to go with the Blue Willow collection I already have from Johnson Bros. This is a beautiful set and I am going to order yet another set so that I will have a serving set for twelve.

  3. The dishes are pretty but were poorly packaged and arrived broken. That was a big disappointment. The pattern looks good but even though these dishes say England on the bottom, a sticker on each item says “Made in China.” The marking on the bottom of the dishes just means that it is an English company.

  4. I purchased this pattern to match a set I already had. I have shopped online several times and have never had any trouble with purchasing glass items. This however arrived in the box you would find on the shelf in the store! No special wrapping, no bubble wrap, nothing! Only one plate arrived unbroken. What were they thinking? Well let me just warn all of you before you buy – STOP! It is a waste of money.

  5. Since I like to collect teacups and saucers, including Churchill, quite some time ago, I jumped at this affordable set of four Blue Willow. The `true love legend’ back-story is sweet and the pattern evokes fond memories, since it has been around for so very long. Sitting down to a nice little cup of herbal tea or hot chocolate is made all the more delightful with this set. They have stood up perfectly to daily microwave and dishwasher use. This set was made in England which is a HUGE plus, since I have found that the quality is fully there when coming from England as opposed to a couple of other countries that some of the Churchill ware is sometimes manufactured in. As I have done with a number of Churchill and other teacups, I shared with a couple of teacup-loving friends who were thoroughly pleased at the little gift.
