blue-willow-china Before it

I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with these dishes. Many reviewers have complained about the size and weight of the dishes, but I felt I could adjust to that. However, immediately after we started using them, problems occurred. There are chips on almost every dish. My husband burned himself taking a dish out out of the microwave, while the food on it was still cold. The coffee cups that come with the set are just absurdly huge. I liked the pattern, so ordered a few accessory pieces, but in the interim, the chips, etc., have been occurring almost daily. I am so disappointed, and after reading these reviews, I’m angry. I wrote Pfalz. asking a couple of questions about the dishes, and got only one response that led me to buy smaller coffee cups. A waste. Please don’t buy this. I have owned a few sets of dishes in my 20+ year marriage: I’m not a dish collector; we buy a new set when normal breakage depletes our existing one and these clearly will not go the distance.

How can I tell if my four month old is teething?
How can I tell if my four month old is teething? He keeps gnawing Four pfaltzgraff on things (fingers, bottle nipples, and toys) He seems like his gums are bothering him but I've always heard they start teething later. Is it possible for him to be teething already? He will be four months on March 13th.

  1. I was interested in buying this pattern but then read all of the poor reviews and was so disappointed. Just for the heck of it, I contacted Pfaltzgraff customer service, told them about all of the complaints I had read and asked if any of the reported issues had been addressed by the company. I’ve decided not to buy this pattern but thought I’d provide their response in case anyone is interested in hearing what they had to say:

“We appreciate your interest in our Napoli pattern. Luckily this is my pattern, so I have experience first hand with it. I want to first tell you that it’s beautiful. Everyone who comes into my kitchen compliments me! Now I may be a bit biased because I work here, but I do believe that the dishes hold up as long as you take the proper care of them. If you’re banging them around or loading them incorrectly in the dishwasher, yes they will chip, they are not chip proof! I have included some helpful information about this Earthenware pattern.

Using an earthenware body allows the production of beautiful, brightly colored, hand-painted designs that wouldn’t be possible with pottery that is fired at higher temperatures (like stoneware or porcelain). Though earthenware dinnerware is safe to use in the oven, microwave, and dishwasher, it can get extremely hot in the microwave. Pot holders or oven mitts are recommended when removing earthenware pieces from the microwave.

Our products will resist chipping; however, they are not “chip-proof.” If bumped hard enough, a piece may chip or crack. Chipping is not considered a defect and can happen to fine china as well as stoneware or earthenware.

We have found the following practices help to prevent chipping:

-Use care to prevent bumping the dishes when handling them in the sink.
-To reduce banging in the dishwasher, alternate smaller plates between larger ones.
-When stacking plates, rather than sliding them, place them on top of each other.

I recommend reviewing the Care and use guide on our website for Earthenware products (in the FAQ’s) if you choose to purchase this pattern.”

  2. We purchased Pfaltzgraff Napoli Dinnerware over a year ago. It was the worst mistake we ever made. We have always had fpaltzgraff dinnerware and we loved it. But this Napoli is worthless, almost every plate and bowl has a chip in it. We never had this problem before. Call to Pfaltzgraff were met by them as too bad for you. We should have known something was wrong when we saw on the bottom of the dishes they were made in China. There is no qualty, it all just junk from China.

  3. I have to agree with other reviewers here about the quality of the Napoli ‘dinnerware’. This Chinese made stuff looks great, but is only good for target shooting. When used as dishes, it chips and breaks so easily, that it is mostly useless. On top of that, it will not work in a microwave, as the only thing that heats is the dish, not the food.

I just wish I had read the reviews here, before I bought the stuff. I ASS-U-ME’d that the same quality of my 25 year old set of Tea Rose would be duplicated in the Napoli, but I was WRONG!

    Don’t waste your money.
